The X Factor 2018: Ratings for the first episode are in
The X Factor’s latest run launched on ITV last night and – surprise, surprise – the ratings are down again.
The talent show began with an average of 5.7 million viewers at 8pm, down half a million on the equivalent episode from 2017; and the peak of 6.3 million was down 700,000 year-on-year.
Still, it was the biggest show by far across all channels on Saturday night; with BBC One’s top effort coming from Casualty (3.8 million).
The average episode one ratings for X Factor over the last few years have been (via Telly Mix):
2018: 5.7 million
2017: 6.2 million
2016: 6.8 million
2015: 7.7 million
2014: 9.6 million
2013: 8.8 million
2012: 8.1 million
Whether or not this series will decline or hold steady over the course of its long run remains to be seen, but generally Sundays in these early stages do slightly better than the Saturdays – we’ll see how episode two does tonight.
Oh, and you can read a little review of the first ep here.
