That incredible Bodyguard train sequence is now on YouTube in full
Bodyguard has been a big hit for BBC One since launching last weekend – and it’s safe to say it had the nation’s buttocks clenched from the off.
Richard Madden’s David Budd was on the train home with his kids when he suspected a passenger of being a terrorist, and he was very quickly proven right.
What followed was an unbearably tense 17-minute sequence that has now been uploaded in full to YouTube, in case going to iPlayer is too much of a challenge.
Also starring Keeley Hawes and Sophie Rundle, Bodyguard has got off to an incredibly strong start in the ratings: it’s the biggest new UK drama launch of the year with a 6.9 million peak last Sunday, and an average of 6.7 million.
The second episode, which aired on Monday, dipped only slightly to 6.4 million; and former Home Secretary Amber Rudd even felt the need to write an opinion piece on its accuracy.
It’s not a total bullseye, though: quite rightly there have been concerns raised about how much of the Muslim representation in primetime drama nowadays revolves around some kind of terrorist plot, as indeed it does here.
But anyway – Bodyguard continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
