Doctor Who series 11 trailer is promising for the Jodie Whittaker era
Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who debut is teased properly for the first time in a new trailer for Series 11.
The show is presumably back in the autumn – speculation online seems to suggest somewhere between late August and October – and will see Whittaker permanently taking over from Peter Capaldi in the title role.
Of course she’s the first female to take the part, and she’s joined by Mandip Gill, Bradley Walsh (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and Tosin Cole.
Chris Chibnall has confirmed that each episode will be self-contained without any mutli-parters, the first time this has happened since series 7.
“What we want is for people to feel like we’ve got the range and variety of Doctor Who this year,” he told Digital Spy.
“So if you’ve never seen it before, you’re gonna fall in love with it, and if you have seen it, you’re gonna get those things that you love about the show across the 10 episodes.”
He added: “It’s really important that there’s no barrier to entry for new audiences. But if you’re a Doctor Who fan, all the things you love about Doctor Who are in there, I think.”
