Sharon Osbourne has hinted that she won’t be taking any “extreme characters” through The X Factor this season.
Speaking as part of the show’s official press pack, she explained that concern over her “reputation” will put emphasis on the most talented contestants.
The vow comes after she had Honey G in her category last year – who, despite all the fuss and attention, failed to crack the Top 100 with her debut single.
“I know, I’m tougher this year. It’s everyone’s reputation on the line when you are sat there,” she mused.
“When you’re backing someone, like backing a three legged horse, it’s your reputation up there too at the end of the day.
“I’ve done my fair share of extreme characters, I just can’t do it again.”
Sharon also said she’s in it to win it this year, after taking Saara Aalto through to the final two in 2016.
“There’s nothing like being a winner, I mean no one wants to be a loser and have no one in the final,” she said. “You just sit there like a spare part.
“Of course you want to win. So it’s difficult if you don’t have anyone in the final.
“But as far as the acts go, coming second or third is just as good. If you have really got it, you’ll get a deal and your career will take off.”
The X Factor returns on Saturday on ITV.
